Lay Hands On Yourself And Say, “Think!”
The Trimm Foundation partnered with Wisdom for Asia Ministries to open the Edna Trimm House of Hope in Andhra Pradesh, India for the purpose of providing a loving Christian home and quality education for 10 orphaned girls.
It has been a lifelong dream of mine to impact the hearts and minds of the world’s young people—especially those who have been abused, exploited, or left abandoned. The hope of the world rests with our children, and healing the world begins with healing and caring for their precious souls. They are, after all, the leaders of the future.
I was surprised to learn that over a third of the world’s population are children, and over half live in poverty. Of those, over a third live in southeast Asia. Another statistic tells us that 20% of the world’s children live in India, and 80% of those children live in poverty, 50% are homeless and most of those are exploited in unspeakable ways.
On July 29, 2010, the International Herald Tribune reported that “more children today live in poverty than 10 years ago, and more children find themselves in a more violent and unstable environment.”
As is commonly known, the children most at risk are girls. This is why I am so passionately excited about the Edna Trimm House of Hope home for girls. It is named after my mother, Edna Trimm, single mother of six children, five of whom are girls! Everything I learned about empowerment, I learned from her and the Bible. She led by example, demonstrated the love and mind of Christ, always believed the best, never lost hope or compromised her faith. She is my mentor and hero.
